Freedom Project aims to transforms prisoners into peacemakers. We offer programs that teach the mindfulness skills of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). These are designed to encourage reconciliation with ourselves, our loved ones, and the greater community. We teach prisoners how to heal relationships disrupted by violence, and how to improve their capacity to serve as family members, workers and citizens.
By teaching prisoners how to live peacefully and avoid conflict, we also serve potential victims, members of the community, and anyone who wishes to break the vicious cycle of crime and violence.
Our programs serve current prisoners and those who were formerly incarcerated in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. Over 40% of the individuals served by Freedom Project were either sentenced in or released to communities in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties.
